eurosuit
The idea
The idea of using the suit originates from Russia in the age of prolonged space flights. The suit was created in order to counteract the negative effects of lack of gravity which cosmonauts were exposed to during space flights.
Scientists and doctors about the suit
In early 90’s scientists and doctors recognized the suit as a very effective therapeutic device for patients afflicted with Infantile Cerebral Palsy, various forms of brain trauma, spinal cord damage and other locomotor disfunctions.
Research
As a result of extensive research and trials the prototype called Pinguin was modified and a new version named ADELi was applied in rehabilitation.
Implementation of the EuroSuit
Since 2008 in Poland at the Euromed Rehabilitation Center and now Medword Rehabilitation the novel, improved version of a suit named EuroSuit has been used for rehabilitation on a commercial basis.
About the methodology
The EuroSuit methodology is ment to help patients develop the strength and function of muscles and to restore lost functions such as four point crawling, upright kneeling, walking, independence.
This methodology is an alternative to other methods of therapy.
The individually customized program is based on thorough knowledge in the field of physiotherapy and sport exercise physiology.
Main goals
- normalization of muscle tension
- increase in active range of motion
- increase in muscle strength and endurance
- improvement of muscles and balance control
- achievement of locomotor independence
EuroSuit
The EuroSuit is a soft proprioreceptive dynamic orthosis that consists of a cap, shorts, vest, knee pads and shoes with special hooks and connectors. The EuroSuit is a safe and effective rehabilitative device when used by professionals trained in its application. The EuroSuit was developed along with an intensive therapeutic program in order to accelerate the effects of treatment.
The effects of EuroSuit application
- improvement of proprioreception
- reduction of pathological synergies and reflexes
- restoration of proper posture and gait pattern
- support of weakened musclesimprovement of body stabilization
- improvement of balance control
- brain stimulation
- improvement of Central Nervous System
- tactile and sensory stimulation
- improvement in speech fluency and pronounciation
- acceleration of the progress of treatment
Indications
- Infantile Cerebral Palsy
- brain trauma
- delayed motor development
- brain injuries
- spinal cord damage
- spina bifida
- diseases of neuromuscular system
Results of therapy
- reduction of the pathological synergies
- increase in strength and endurance
- improvement in muscle control
- increase of independent walking, sitting, four point crawling and other locomotor functions
- improvenent of focus and coordination of movements
- improvement in the patient’s self-sufficiency
